Roma have made a move for Norwich City full-back Max Aarons but face competition from Everton and Tottenham for his signature.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who back up claims that Roma have made the first moves to sign the Norwich man.
A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport on Friday stated that Roma were keen on Aarons, which followed on from claims on Monday that they were trying to sign him on loan.
Corriere back that up and say Roma have ‘made a move’ for the right-back and will try to sign him on loan with a right to buy included.
Norwich aren’t interested in that, though, and have made it clear they want a permanent deal worth around €22m for their man.
Whether Roma can do that isn’t mentioned, but they face competition from the Premier League, with Everton and ‘Conte and Paratici’s Tottenham’ both ‘interested’ in the right-back as well.
What deals they’re pursuing isn’t mentioned, but a permanent deal is far more likely to be an option for Spurs than Everton, whose limited finances have been made clear at this point.
They do need a right-back to replace Seamus Coleman, and Aarons has been linked for a while, but €22m is likely to be outside of their budget.
A move from Tottenham makes little sense, given they spent £22.5m to sign Emerson Royal from Barcelona in August.
He’s been a regular for them so far, starting nine of the ten games he’s been in the squad for and featuring four times under Antonio Conte. That would suggest there’s no real desire for a replacement.
Either way, the feeling from Italy is that both sides are among the ‘admirers’ for Aarons and therefore competition for Roma in their efforts to get the Norwich man.
