Everton are ‘in talks’ with Borussia Monchengladbach over a move for midfielder Denis Zakaria this summer.

That’s according to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, who says Arsenal and Tottenham are also keen on the Switzerland star.

Yesterday we covered a report from BILD that stated that Everton were among the ‘most promising candidates’ for Zakaria this summer, with it stated that they were ‘luring’ him away.

The newspaper made it clear that a transfer was very much on the cards, with the player and his club having accepted that it was happening.

Falk now picks up on those reports and states that Everton are ‘in talks’ with Monchengladbach over a deal.

He says the same is the case for Arsenal and Tottenham, while all three face competition from Roma and Napoli for his signature.

He does not mention an asking price, although BILD’s report yesterday put the figure at around €20m.

Falk’s tweet seems to suggest something is underway, but we would advise caution given Zakaria featured in SportBILD’s print edition today.

Everton were mentioned in that as well, yet the report was the same as yesterday’s and didn’t go anywhere near as far as their Head of Football, Falk, is doing on Twitter.

What’s quite possible is that Everton, like Arsenal and Tottenham, are simply interested in the midfielder should he be as available as it appears he is.
