Everton are ‘talking about’ a potential move for Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, who will be leaving the Nou Camp this summer.
That’s according to AS, who say Barcelona’s finances demand that they move their number two to pastures new.
Neto has been playing the number two role to Marc Andre Ter Stegen for several years and only managed 12 appearances in all competitions last season.
He has been named on the long list of players that Barcelona want to move on this summer, with them keen to sell several players to raise funds for their own transfer business.
Everton were named among his suitors last week, with it claimed they were ‘interested’ in a deal for the 31-year-old.
AS follow that up today and say the Blues are ‘talking about’ the goalkeeper, who ‘will leave’ Barcelona at some point.
There’s no mention if he’d be interested in the move or what kind of deal Everton and Barcelona would be looking at, although it is made clear the latter need a ‘good offer’ to sanction his departure.
It’s also made clear that the goalkeeper wants a move away and has ‘asked for it’, so there is a deal there to be done.
Any move to Everton would see him retaining his number two status behind Jordan Pickford, though, so it’s debatable whether he’d swap Barcelona for that.
Either way, the interest is there from Goodison, and Everton do need a number two, so Neto’s name is one to keep an eye on.
