French midfielder Yann M’Vila spent the last season on loan at Sunderland from Rubin Kazan.

Sunderland reportedly wanted to make his move permanent, but the player’s wages (£100k per week) are a stumbling block.

The 26-year-old had a good season at Sunderland, and other clubs are also interested in signing him.

According to French website RMC Sport, Everton are now interested in M’Vila, and have informed the player of their interest.

Everton have been repeatedly linked with Axel Witsel in recent weeks, and M’Vila could well be their alternative to the hard to sign Belgian.

Sunderland, however, are still negotiating with Rubin Kazan, but haven’t reached an agreement yet.

Everton reportedly have a huge transfer kitty, and shouldn’t find it too difficult to reach an agreement with Rubin Kazan and M’Vila if they decide to step up their interest.

RMC Sport say Sunderland have made the player a priority this summer.
