A target for a few Premier League clubs in the summer, Iliman Ndiaye ended up leaving Sheffield United and signing for Marseille in France.
It was a move of the heart, but the reality has been very different, as the forward has struggled to shine for the Ligue 1 side, which has led to some interest from England regarding a return, notably Everton.
The story started in England, but has also found some legs in France, where Foot Mercato have an article about the Toffees and the Senegal international.
Despite his struggles, the Everton target came back from a suspension with a bang against Clermont, and was one of the stars in the 2-1 win on Sunday evening.
That’s great news for Marseille and Gennaro Gattuso, but Foot Mercato explain the 23-year-old will also have to deal with an ‘animated transfer window’.
That’s because Everton, who were ‘already there in the summer’, are still interested in the winger, and ‘aren’t the only ones’, with an unnamed Premier League club also keeping an eye on him.
The good part for Sean Dyche’s side is they are doing so from further afar than the Goodison Park residents, but the bad bit of information is that Ndiaye has ‘no intention of leaving’ Marseille this winter.
He is ‘determined to impose himself’ at Marseille, and has been ‘working hard on and off the pitch’ to do that.
Therefore, unless a lot of money is put on the table, meaning more than the €17m paid by the Ligue 1 side, we doubt anything would be considered.
