Tuesday’s edition of AS is pretty blunt toward Nico Gaitan, telling him he needs to make up his mind about a new club, and making it clear he’s going to have to consider options he previously wasn’t keen on.

One of those is named as Everton, and the Toffees, like other English clubs, ‘are still there’ with an interest in the Atletico Madrid player. Gaitan doesn’t speak English, and that’s one of the reasons he’s reluctant about a move to the Premier League, believe the Spanish newspaper.

On January 8th, Marca reported Everton were serious with their interest in signing Gaitan, and they’d also been linked to his Atletico teammate Kevin Gameiro.

Now it seems Atletico are keener to move Gaitan on, and get rid of his €2.6m, after tax, wages.

Initially looking towards a permanent sale, Atletico are going to have to be more flexible on their demands, just like the player himself, and a loan move may now be possible.

Everton will have to keep in mind Gaitan’s reluctance to move to England, do they really want a player who doesn’t fancy it?

Zenit have also come into the picture, but it’s unlikely Gaitan speaks Russian either.
