Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been named in the European Team of the Week by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from outside Serie A, and this week the Everton star has made the cut after his performance against Bournemouth.

Pickford signed for Everton in the summer from Sunderland, for a fee which smashed the transfer record for a British goalkeeper. However, with Everton’s early season woes it’s not been the best of starts for Pickford.

Everton got back to winning ways on Saturday against Bournemouth, and Pickford was instrumental in Ronald Koeman’s side picking up all three points. The England international pulled off a number of saves during the game, with Everton running out eventual 2-1 winners, thanks to two goals from Oumar Niasse.

With the internationals next month, Pickford’s performance will give England manager Gareth Southgate a timely reminder when it comes to selecting his No.1.
