Brazil manager Tite today announced the call-up for the upcoming games of the World Cup Qualifiers, and just like every time a new list comes out, there was some controversy about it.

Even though Brazil aren’t currently in their golden years, there’s still plenty of competition for some positions, especially in attacking roles, and one of those spots was given to Everton star Richarlison once again.

Analysing the new squad, UOL blogger Julios Gomes points out that while not many will agree, the Toffees’ forward deserves this ‘last chance’ to prove himself at the national team, as there will be few call-ups until the World Cup.

It’s pointed out that Richarlison is not playing well, with only five goals scored this season. Now despite his ‘difficult situation’, as there’s huge competition for the attacking positions, he should ‘have credits’ for helping the national team in the past.

Gomes claims that if Philippe Coutinho’s history for Brazil helped him to get many calls up in the past, then Richarlison deserves the same chance, regardless of the poor season Everton are having.

Playing for Brazil, the Toffees’ star has ten goals in 32 games.
