Everton star Richarlison is now finally recovering from the knee issue which took him out of the Toffees’ and Brazil’s last few games.
As the 24-year-old prepares to get back to the pitch, he was now interviewed by ESPN Brasil, talking about how the Goodison Park side will react to the challenges they have ahead.
Richarlison started by pointing out that Everton have been struggling with injuries, and it will be tough to stay on top level without their full squad available.
“It’s hard, isn’t it? We will always have ups and downs during the season. Also because we lost a lot of important players to injury. This made it a little difficult,” Richarlison told ESPN Brasil.
“But we have to go through these difficulties, get back on top, because the season is long. Now comes a very heavy sequence for us and we need to be well. We play Manchester City on Sunday, which in my view is the best team in the league. So let’s face them, let’s dedicate ourselves as much as possible so that we can gain points away from home.”
“He’s an important player for our squad, for our team. Not only him but Yerry Mina, we also lost Doucoure. So they are important players that are missed at any team. So I think when they get back the team will get better. But we have to know how to suffer too, we have to know how to bear it, get the three points without them, because here is a group and we have to be united for any difficulty.”
Speaking of Rafa Benitez, Richarlison claims that Everton players have many lessons to take from the Spanish coach, and shows the confidence the squad have on their boss for this season.
“Rafa Benitez is a coach who’s been at many clubs, big clubs, and we are here to learn from him too. He’s an experienced guy, just like Ancelotti. So we’re here to learn from him. I’m going to learn as much as possible from him because it’s important to my career. May other athletes also get advice from him because it’s good. So I think he has everything to help us achieve our goals during the season.”
