Although we check the Argentine press every single day, it’s been a while since we last saw updates on Everton’s negotiations to sign Santiago Sosa from River Plate.

The local media has been completely silent about the situation in the past week, despite claiming that the player would make an appeal to get a work permit.

Today, outlet Olé has a discreet mention about the move, but they no longer believe it’s happening anytime soon.

They claim Santiago Sosa ‘sounded strongly’ as a reinforcement for Everton, ‘soon the negotiations cooled down’. The player is added to River Plate’s academy squad which is returning to training this week.

Santiago Sosa has only five appearances for River Plate’s first team, and this is one of the many reasons why he couldn’t get a work permit for the Premier League.

It’s even been claimed that his agents would suggest to Everton a transfer and a loan back to River Plate, but there’s been no updates on this possibility.
