Portuguese newspaper Record today features a story about the disappointing loan spell that Ruben Vinagre is having at Everton this season.

With the player not expected to stay with the Toffees, he’s not wanted by his parent club Sporting either, and is set to look for a new club in this summer.

Vinagre was loaned by the Lions to Everton last summer. Since then, he had four appearances for the Goodison Park side, with 204 minutes played, and his last game was in November.

That makes it obvious that the Toffees will not trigger the €20m buying option they have over him at the end of the season, frustrating Sporting’s plans of making a good sale.

Record recalls that Vinagre wasn’t wanted at the Lions since the 2021/22 season, when he had a very poor performance in the 5-1 defeat to Ajax. Somehow, he still drew interest from Everton, but couldn’t turn things around in his year in England.

For now, there’s no information on who could be interested in the 24-year-old, who has a contract with the Portuguese club running until 2026.
