It seems Everton fans can have 24 more hours of hope regarding the possible signing of River Plate midfielder Santiago Sosa.

Although the player’s quest for a work permit has already been reported as a failure by the Argentine press, some local outlets believe there’s still time.

It’s TNT Sports journalist Maximiliano Grillo who claims that the process may not be over yet, since they must wait until the end of the week to confirm it.

“Regarding Sousa it’s about waiting, at least, until Friday, to know if the issues that have to do with the work permit can be accelerated and end up done,” he said (via Bolavip).

Earlier this week, the Argentine press claimed that Sosa’s agents would try to convince Everton to sign the player now, then loan him back to River Plate as they wait for him to get a working visa.

This is a scenario which could work if the player proves to have the right documents to get an EU passport. Otherwise, it’s unlikely he can have a work permit soon, since he has only five appearances for River Plate and hasn’t made his debut for the national team yet.
