Dutch side FC Emmen have cancelled the loan deal for Everton forward Shani Tarashaj after he failed to make a first-team appearance for the club despite joining last season.
Tarashaj, who joined Everton from Grasshopper in a £3.6m deal in 2016 but has made just two appearances for the U23s, signed for the Eredivisie club on a two-year loan last season.
His first year proved to be a disastrous one, though, as he failed to make a first-team appearance throughout the campaign and only featured on the bench four times.
There had obviously been hopes that he could turn it around this year, but that has not happened, with the Everton loanee not featuring, even on the bench, in any of their four league games this season.
They have now given up on the deal, with an official statement on their website stating that his deal has been ‘terminated prematurely’ and that they will ‘separate immediately’ with the forward.
They explain that the loan deal from Everton has went ‘differently than hoped for’ and that he has ‘never been able to show his talent’ with the club due to his injuries.
The Dutch club kindly wish him the best of luck for the future, which at the minute must be looking pretty bleak for the forward.
He was once highly rated but the last few years have been nothing short of disastrous, with injuries limiting his playing time wherever he has gone.
He and Everton will have to come to a decision about what to do given there’s unlikely to be any place for him at Goodison Park now or in the future.
