Everton have been linked with Maxwel Cornet, with it expected the attacker will leave Burnley this summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Playing in the Championship obviously wasn’t Cornet’s plan when he moved from Lyon to Burnley last summer, and he has a clause which enables him to leave the Lancashire club.

Foot Mercato report that could be taking him to Everton.

The French website reports that after earlier claims of interest from the Toffees, Everton are now set to trigger that clause in Cornet’s contract.

The clause will cost Everton €21m, and as long as personal terms could then be agreed, and it would be expected that’s already at least been partly discussed, then Cornet can move to Goodison Park and retain his status as a Premier League footballer.

Foot Mercato don’t give the player’s stance on the move, however, the article sounds pretty optimistic about this being a transfer in the making.
