Everton look set to make a bid for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, reviving their interest from the January transfer window.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say ‘the deal could have legs’ in this summer market if Everton make a significant bid for him as expected.
The newspaper reports that Everton have returned to the hunt for the midfielder, who they failed to get five months ago despite their best efforts.
The growing belief is that they will make an important offer for him in this window instead as he remains in their sights as they look to build their squad this summer.
All indications are that Everton are ‘set to make a bid’ for the 24-year-old and a ‘significant’ one at that.
They wanted him in January, but Benfica refused to negotiate at the time as the player was set to be a more regular option for Roger Schmidt in the second half of the season.
That turned out to be the case as he made it to 45 appearances in all competition and almost 2500 minutes in total as well.
Everton will revive their interest, though, and make a significant bid to try and convince the Portuguese side into a sale.
They are presumably looking at the midfielder as a replacement for Amadou Onana, who has been heavily linked with a move away this summer, particularly with Everton needing big sales to help balance their precarious finances.
