Everton have seen a €45m bid for Torino striker Andrea Belotti rejected but will continue to push for his signature on Carlo Ancelotti’s orders.
Tuttosport report that the Italian coach is keen to sign his compatriot this summer as he looked to add further firepower to Everton’s front line.
Belotti is the man he has identified, and that saw them make an ‘intriguing proposal’ of €45m, although the Serie A side swiftly rejected this.
However, that is a figure ‘that can go up’ because Ancelotti wants the striker at Goodison Park, having tried to sign him for Napoli last year.
The newspaper explains that Everton are lacking an imposing striker, with the likes of Richarlison, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin describe as ‘good players’ but not ‘real strikers’.
Thus Ancelotti is looking for someone to improve the forward line, and Belotti has the ‘characteristics’ that they are looking for.
He sees the Italian forward, who has 15 goals in 31 games this season, as the perfect signing to ‘raise the level’ of the club.
Ancelotti’s aim is apparently to make Everton title contenders as soon as possible, and Belotti can help them take a step towards achieving that.
He would be a costly purchase but, Tuttosport say that Everton are ‘very strong economically’ thanks to Farhad Moshiri who has ‘enormous financial resources’ to fund transfers and push the club forward under Ancelotti’s leadership.
