Real Valladolid director Miguel Ángel Gómez has revealed Everton are demanding at least €5m to turn Sandro Ramírez’s loan deal into a permanent one this summer.
The striker is currently on loan at the Spanish side, having joined in the summer transfer window when Everton made it clear there was no place for him once more.
His time at the club has been a relative success so far, with him finally breaking his goal duck and registering four goals and one assist in 21 games so far.
It’s been made apparent for several months that they are keen to keep him for longer, with Gómez having said they would look into the finances of it at some point.
That was followed up by reports that Ramírez would have to take a significant pay cut to seal a permanent move, as the club faced up to the possibility of choosing between him and Hatem Ben Arfa.
Now, Gómez has claimed it is Everton’s asking price that is the real issue holding up any potential talks between the two clubs.
“Sandro belongs to Everton, and you have already seen published that they intend to transfer him for around 5-6 million,” he told Cadena Ser, relayed by Pucela Fichajes.
“Those are figures that Real Valladolid cannot afford, the boy is tremendously committed to the team; he is very happy here in Valladolid and managed to break his bad streak.
“We have the feeling that this season will end with 3-4 more goals, but his situation is complex because of the requests to which his home club aspires.
“I do not know exactly the will of Sandro, although he is happy here, but he belongs to another club and must be respected.
“The boy respects his contract and knows he has to come back.”
