Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira ‘hopes’ that Everton make a move for him in January as he doesn’t fancy joining Watford or Norwich in the Championship.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the player finds the idea of a move to England’s second flight ‘less appealing’.
Khedira has been heavily linked with a move away from Juventus in the January transfer window having fallen down the pecking order under Andrea Pirlo.
They are keen to get his high wages off their books to free up funds, and it has been suggested that Everton, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, who worked with the German at Real Madrid, could be a destination.
Indeed, Ancelotti hinted this week that could be the case, stating Everton weren’t looking at Khedira at the moment but could in January.
Gazzetta pick up on the story today and confirm Juventus are keen to get rid, stating that Khedira’s €6m a year wages are a ‘luxury’ that chairman Andrea Agnelli ‘wants to do without’.
They say that Khedira ‘could end up in the Premier League’ and currently ‘hopes’ for a call from Ancelotti to join him at Everton.
The Blues are not the only English club interested, though, with Watford and Norwich also having made moves.
They, though, are ‘less appealing’ than a move to Goodison Park.
Whether Everton will come calling remains to be seen. Khedira would add valuable experience to the squad, but his age and presumably high wage demands are two very big negatives.
