Everton have joined the race for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, with talks set to ‘intensify’ over a move.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the Blues have joined Aston Villa and West Ham ‘in the running’ for the American.
McKennie has been linked with a move away from Juventus for the last week or so, with it believed they are keen to get rid and bring in a replacement who better suits Max Allegri’s system.
They’ve been in talks with Tottenham over a swap deal, but other suitors such as Aston Villa have emerged in the meantime.
Whether McKennie would make such a move has been debated, but it seems there is now increased competition.
Tuttosport report that Juventus are in ‘negotiations’ with several Premier League teams over McKennie, naming Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham as being ‘in the running’.
Those talks are set to ‘intensify’ before the end of the window, and Juve have already eyed up a replacement in Borussia Dortmund’s Axel Witsel, who they see as easier to sign than other options.
The nature of the negotiations with the likes of Everton isn’t mentioned, just that they are now in the race for his signature.
That is something that is likely to go down well with Blues fans, although they will question where the money is coming from to try and secure such a deal.
Perhaps we’re about to see a return of the Moise Kean to Juventus rumours in the final week of the window, and that will end up mixed up in a potential deal for McKennie, which would make plenty of sense for all the parties involved.
