Everton could be handed the chance to sign Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar on loan in January, with the Italian side open to offers.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Spaniard is on the sell list at the club as Jose Mourinho looks to add a midfielder to his squad.
Villar has barely featured under the Portuguese manager this season, something which has led to reports about a potential exit in January.
The Serie A side want to raise money to bring in a defensive midfielder, namely Denis Zakaria, but to do so, they need to get rid of players first.
Villar and teammate Amadou Diawara are the ones on the sell list, and according to TMW, they are willing to ‘consider formulas’ other than a permanent transfer for the Spaniard.
They are ready to sell him, but it’s made clear simply getting him off the books in any capacity is something they’re open to.
Now they make no mention of any interested parties, but that will surely come as good news to Everton, who’ve been linked over the last month.
Villar was named as an option for them at the end of September and it was later claimed ‘Everton want him’ at the beginning of this month.
The last we heard was that his price was set to plummet to €4m, a price the Blues could probably pay, although it seemed unlikely given the state of their finances and that Marcel Brands does not like doing permanent transfers in January.
Now it seems the possibility of a loan is on the table, something which could suit them down to the ground.
