Everton are eyeing up a move for Roma’s Patrik Schick if they end up selling Moise Kean this summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who cover the striker’s future with his loan deal at RB Leipzig set to expire.
Schick has been on loan with the Bundesliga side since the summer, scoring ten goals and registering three assists in 24 games so far.
They, though, have elected not to exercise an option in their deal to make his loan move permanent and so, as of today, he is ‘officially on the market’.
Gazzetta explain that Leipzig had the option of a €29m deal paid over two instalments or €27m immediately, but that expired on June 15th as the German club did not consider either an ‘appropriate’ price to pay.
Thus, Roma are on the hunt for a suitor for the 24-year-old but cannot afford to let him go for less than €26m if they are to avoid a loss.
Franco Baldini is ‘probing the English market’ as he believes that is where he is likely to find a club who can pay such an amount and Everton are apparently among the suitors.
They ‘like’ the forward, who would look to sign him were they to let Moise Kean go this summer.
He has been heavily linked with a move away from Everton after a challenging first year at the club, and it seems Schick is on the list of replacements should that happen.
Schick, for his part, has ‘long expressed’ his desire to stay in Leipzig as he believes they believe in his abilities and Roma are happy to accommodate that but the renewal of a loan, without any obligation to buy, has been ruled out.
That’s why they are now ready to ‘deal with anyone’ for the striker, and that could include Everton if Kean moves on.
