Everton’s contact with Roma over defender Alessandro Florenzi are ‘always alive’, with the Blues having been in contact over the right-back.

That’s according to Sky Sports Italy, who say the Italian is one of the player’s that Carlo Ancelotti has requested this summer.

The Blues are known to be on the hunt for a right-back in this window, with them keen to add competition for captain Seamus Coleman in the position.

They have youngster Jonjoe Kenny, who has returned from a loan spell at Schalke and while the belief is that he will be looked at, rumours continue that they are looking at bringing another player in.

Reports in England this week have indicated they are keen on Atlético Madrid’s Santiago Arias, a player who was named as a target last summer and has a history with Marcel Brands, who signed him for PSV Eindhoven in 2013.

However, he appears to not be the only one they’re looking at, with separate reports in Italy claiming they were looking at Roma’s Florenzi.

Sky Sports back that up today, stating that Roma are working on getting players out of the club this summer and one of those is Florenzi, for whom contacts with Everton are ‘always alive’.

Their journalist Mario Giunta adds to that on Twitter, stating that there has been ‘contact’ with Everton over the defender.

He, though, goes one step further and suggests the move could happen quickly and the next few days will be ‘decisive’ as the player is one of those that Ancelotti has requested for his summer rebuild.

That’s all that either offer on the subject, but, added to the report earlier this week, it suggests Everton are very much considering a move for Florenzi.

The likely scenario is that the player is on a list of possible targets and they’ve been in contact with Roma to discover the parameters of a move, as opposed to anything serious.
