Everton and Paris Saint Germain have decided to ‘resume negotiations’ over a deal to take Idrissa Gana Gueye back to Goodison Park.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say that following a ‘long period of stalemate’ between the two clubs, negotiations have now resumed.

In fact, the newspaper reports that those negotiations are now ‘moving in the right direction’ after a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs during weeks of talk.

They say that Gueye was ‘ready to commit’ to Everton but those in charge at Goodison ‘put the brakes on negotiations’ amid a failure to strike a deal with PSG.

English sources are now telling the newspaper the talks have resumed and the latest exchanges have been ‘deemed positive’ by Everton.

They now feel a deal is well within their grasp and it is ‘once again hoped’ that Gueye can return to his former club before the transfer window closes shut on September 1st.

The reason for this optimism isn’t made clear but it seems a slight cooling off period has allowed the clubs to sit back, analyse the situation and then resume their talks and get this deal moving.
