Yerry Mina returned for Everton in last week’s 4-1 EFL Cup defeat to Bournemouth. The Colombian defender last played for the Toffees in the first game of the Premier League season, and had been out with injury since then.

Following the midweek defeat, Mina was only on the bench as Everton again lost to Bournemouth, this time 3-0.

His contract expires at the end of the season and whilst he still has fans in his home country’s media, Marca Colombia say it ‘would be a miracle’ if Everton decide to offer a renewal.

Since moving from Barcelona, Mina has been repeatedly hit by injuries and his purchase won’t go down as one of the greatest at Goodison Park. Marca Colombia believe Everton will now be looking to a future without Mina and he’s therefore going to struggle to get minutes for Frank Lampard.

With no World Cup to escape to, after Colombia failed to qualify, Mina now has some time to get to full fitness. Marca believe that there’s no defenders of his level at Everton, however, that means little if the fitness isn’t there.
