Jean-Clair Todibo is currently on loan at Schalke from Barcelona and the Bundesliga side have decided not to exercise the option to make the transfer permanent.
On June 13th, we carried a report from Sport, who explained that Everton have asked the Spanish champions about the centre-back after finding out Schalke won’t keep him.
It was also explained the Toffees have ‘long been in negotiations’ with the Camp Nou side for the 20-year-old.
Since the start of this month, Sport have had a few reports talking about the Merseyside club’s interest in the Frenchman.
Another Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo has a short update and it’s explained that Carlo Ancelotti’s side remain focused on the former Toulouse man.
This information is brought by journalist Miguel Rico and he states the Toffees been Barca’s ‘VIP client’ in the last few years, suggesting they have a clear advantage.
That’s because Everton have invested in excess of €80m on Gerard Deulofeu (€6m), Lucas Digne (€20m), Yerry Mina (€30.2m) and André Gomes (€27.5m).
The good relationship between two clubs could help Ancelotti’s side in their effort to win the race for signing the France U20 international.
If Everton confirm Todibo’s signing for €25m, the cumulative transfer fee paid by them to Barcelona in recent years would cross €100m.
