Everton ‘remain alive’ in the hunt for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey as Juventus consider rescinding his contract to get rid of his wages.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the Blues are one of three Premier League options for the Welshman.

Ramsey has found himself increasingly out of the picture at Juventus this season, failing to convince Max Allegri he has a future at the club.

They’re now determined to get rid of him, more specifically his €7m a year wages, which are seen as a major stumbling block to the Italian side’s hopes of adding at least one player in the January transfer window.

Earlier today, we covered a report that Everton had initiated talks with Ramsey’s agent over a move and that there were ‘margins’ for a deal to happen as Juventus were happy to let him leave on a free transfer.

CM.IT now echo that, stating that the ‘main roads’ for an exit lead to the Premier League, and there are ‘tracks’ leading to Everton.

They also say there have been contacts between the Toffees and Ramsey’s representative about a move to Goodison Park and then back up the claim that Juventus have ‘given up’ the idea of monetising his departure.

Instead, they are happy to let him go for free and take the ‘monstrous’ €7m a year wages he earns off of their books.

Like their counterparts, they don’t offer the extent of the conversation with Ramsey or what Everton are willing to pay him, just that talks have been held. Either way, there is clearly a story building in Italy.

The Blues would be wise to take a look at how it has been received, though, before pushing too hard with a move.

For example, there is journalist Fabrizio Biasin, who tweeted about the ‘contact’ before then adding that Ramsey would be out for six months; as a result, a clear reference to the injury issues the Welshman has had at Juventus.

Since joining in 2019, he’s missed 183 days with injury, and that doesn’t include part of the 119 days he was out between April and August that year. He joined Juventus in July.

It’s a major problem and something Everton need to seriously consider before making a move that would be nothing short of very risky.
