Everton are reportedly expected to make an attempt to sign Mauricio Lemos from UD Las Palmas soon. According to Canarias7, the Toffees will be joining a big competition from La Liga as many clubs will try to get the player next summer.
Lemos joined Las Palmas permanently at the start of the season after a six-month loan there. He was signed from Rubin Kazan for €2m.
Despite starting the season with ups and downs, the player has managed to excel in Las Palmas’ defence and that’s what caught Everton’s attention.
Canarias7 claim that last summer, Barcelona made an attempt to buy the player for a fee of €4m, which could be raised to €12m due to add-ons. But Las Palmas had chosen to keep him and were well protected by Lemos’ release clause of €30m.
The outlet also says that the player is very likely to be leaving the club at the end of the season, so interested clubs should be aware that the competition won’t be easy.
Everton have been linked to Lemos previously and this is likely to rumble on until the summer.
