Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti ‘has his eye on’ Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as he looks for a new central midfielder this summer.
That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who say the Blues will have to fight it out with Arsenal for the Frenchman’s signature.
Rabiot is widely expected to leave Juventus this summer after just one season at the club following a free transfer from PSG last year.
His short spell at the club has not been quite as successful as he had hoped and their relationship has soured over recent weeks amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
Recent reports indicated he was not happy at being forced to take a pay cut, while the club were displeased by his apparent lack of desire to return from isolation early like other players at the club.
Thus, a parting of the ways seems inevitable, and Everton have been widely touted as a potential destination thanks to Ancelotti.
He handed Rabiot his debut at PSG, and the two have a good relationship, with one report even suggesting he was prioritising a move to Goodison Park because of it.
Le 10 confirm the interest is mutual and say that Ancelotti has identified Rabiot and Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini as the ideal signings.
Everton have now ‘launched hostilities’ to try and secure his signature and will find Juventus keen to sell as well.
The website explains that the Italians have put Rabiot on the transfer list and will demand over €30m in any deal so they can secure a tidy profit on a player who cost nothing a year ago.
