French side Marseille are facing tough competition from Everton in the race for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

That’s according to La Provence, who say Everton and Real Betis are the main competition for the French side this summer.

The newspaper reports that Marseille are already working on the transfer market as they look to give new manager Roberto de Zerbi a competitive squad and the transfers he wants.

They are carefully examining the Leicester City midfielder, who is set to become a free agent on June 30th as his contract with the Foxes expires.

He’s very popular among those in charge at Marseille and they are trying to convince him of the move but are currently facing ‘tough competition’ from Everton and Betis in particular.

Everton’s interest in the Nigerian has been reported for months and it was claimed earlier this week that they had presented an official offer to the Leicester City midfielder.

How he had responded to that bid wasn’t made clear, but it seems it’s serious, at least as far as Marseille are concerned, with them viewing Everton as tough competition they need to overcome if they are to sign the midfielder this summer.
