If you search for ‘Everton Doumbia’ on Google, one of the first headlines you’ll get is from a story saying the Toffees were eyeing the ‘£55m striker’ last summer.
The 30-year-old was pretty well rated back then, especially because of the 21 goals scored by him in the last season, when still playing for Basel.
Since the summer, Everton stopped being linked to the player for a while, even though the Portuguese press insisted that some English sides had been approaching Sporting for his transfer.
And now it turns out that Doumbia is available, and the price is ridiculously smaller than six months ago.
As reported by A Bola today, Sporting manager Jorge Jesus won’t maky any efforts to keep Doumbia in the squad, and the club can sell him for only €12m.
The Lions don’t even rule out a deal in the January window, making Doumbia quite an interesting target for any club who wants a striker.
The player has seven goals in 16 games this season, although none of them were scored in the Portuguese league.
Would Everton now consider the possibility to sign him for this price? Maybe it’s a bet that is worth taking.
