Everton are preparing ‘a big offer’ for Villarreal star Samu Chukwueze after reports of their interest emerged last night.
That’s according to Marca and El Periódico Mediterráneo today, who both provide their stances on the situation around the player.
Marca report that Everton have already ‘contacted’ Villarreal about a move and cover how in England they are discussing a loan with an option to buy for €45m.
The newspaper do not back this up but say Villarreal have simply ‘received a communication’ from the Blues and they are waiting for a formal offer to arrive.
What they do say is that if an offer of a loan with a compulsory option set at €45m were to arrive it would be hard for the Roig family to reject it as it would be the most expensive sale in the club’s history.
El Periódico, meanwhile, also say that while Everton have been in contact, no formal offer has been made as yet.
They say several English clubs have been knocking on Villarreal’s door and the ‘strongest one’ is Everton, who are keen on Chukwueze.
The newspaper can confirm that their interest is real but there is still no formal offer from the Toffees as yet.
El Periódico explain that Chukwueze has a release clause of €100m, which dropped to €80m in his third season at the club. There is a clause, though, that it would increase by 30% in the last days of the market.
That gives them a firmer position in the ‘imminent’ negotiations, but the Spanish side do not hide that they would be open to a sale if ‘a good offer arrives that satisfies all three parties’.
They don’t mention what price Villarreal would want, but again quote the €40-50m being cited in England. Either way, they are open to a sale and Everton are seemingly preparing a formal bid.
