We all know by now that AS Roma want Everton’s Moise Kean and the player isn’t against a return to his home country.
That’s not news, but what is is the fact Mino Raiola is now working on a deal that would suit all parties and involves Cengiz Ünder.
The Turkish winger has been an alleged target for Carlo Ancelotti for a while, and with both clubs interested in each other’s players, there’s hope a deal could be sorted out.
For Kean, it’s fairly simple: Corriere dello Sport state the 20-year-old’s availability for a move to Roma is ‘total’, and he’s willing to accept a reduced wage (for the first season) to get a deal over the line.
If the Serie A side decide to buy him next year for a pre-agreed fee of around €22m, then they would talk about a five-year contract with ‘different parameters’.
Furthermore, he’d be ready to start by sitting behind Džeko as long as he got minutes elsewhere on the pitch (maybe down the wing), with an aim of making Italy’s squad for the Euros next year.
Roma, down their end, want ‘at least €30m’ for their Ünder as 20% of the youngster’s sale will be heading to Basaksehir.
That money could then go a long way to help Roma rebuild this summer (without spending much on Kean), allowing them to be more competitive next year and get more money (through European qualification) to then afford the Everton forward permanently.
They’re thinking about the future, and with Ünder one of their more profitable yet expendable assets, they might as well cash in when a Premier League club comes knocking.
Especially if they get Kean out of the negotiations, too.
