As you know, there has been a lot of talk of James Rodriguez leaving Everton this summer following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid.
The Colombian enjoyed a mixed bag of a season at Goodison Park in his first year on Merseyside, starting the campaign extremely well before, as tends to be the case with him, injuries caught up with him and sidelined him for a good chunk of the latter parts.
Since then, we’ve seen reports that Milan are interested and could even make a deal, and yet nothing concrete has ever come of it.
The belief, at least in the transfer market rumours, is that much of this is being driven by Jorge Mendes, who is looking for a way out for his client.
This is what Paolo Paganini told Radio Marte, relayed by Casa Napoli, on Monday.
He said: “Mendes is offering him to the left and to the right. Milan would like to bet on a younger player with a lighter salary. They are thinking above all of Zaccagni of Verona. Napoli were in pole position but in Spalletti’s mind, there are other priorities”.
This suggests that Milan aren’t really interested in the Everton star, meaning he might have to end up working under Rafa Benitez next season, whether he likes it or not, as he is contracted to the Toffees for another year.
