Earlier today, we covered a piece from A Bola regarding Sporting’s deal for the signing of Everton goalkeeper João Virgínia.
The outlet was able to confirm that the player is moving on a one-year loan, adding that the clubs are still negotiating the percentage that each will pay of his salary and the fee in case of a permanent transfer.
Now it turns out that other outlets are a little more sure about the numbers involved in this agreement. This is the case of Jornal de Notícias and Record.
They write that Sporting will only pay 50% of Virgínia’s wages during his one-year loan spell in Lisbon. Then in case the Lions choose to go for the permanent signing, the transfer will cost them €3.5m.
Jornal de Notícias says Virginia could arrive in Portugal this week in case he quickly recovers from a Covid-19 infection. They claim he’s asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, newspaper Record seems a little more optimistic about that, saying the payer will land in Lisbon on Thursday to have his medical, as he’ll be over the isolation period by then.
Sporting have just sold goalkeeper Luis Maximiliano to Granada in a €5m deal, so the agreement with Everton is seen as very good, since they’re getting a younger replacement for whom they’ll pay less and only in case they decide to.
Virgínia joined Everton in a move from Arsenal in 2018. He only made three appearances for the Toffees, all of them last season, and could now be leaving Goodison Park for good.
