Everton goalkeeper João Virgínia has just returned to the club following the loan spell he had with Portuguese side Sporting. The 22-year-old didn’t get the minutes he expected for the Lions, this being one of the reasons they chose not to trigger the buying option.
Following his return to the Toffees, he recently spoke to the English media and made it clear he’d like to play more, even if that means competing with Jordan Pickford for the starting place.
And it turns out that according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Virgínia could soon be on his way out of Everton once again, and that has everything to do with his search for minutes.
The outlet writes that both the goalkeeper and the Toffees want to find a loan at a place where he can be a starter. And there’s already a club who are ‘one of the possibilities on the table’, with O Jogo saying that’s Dutch side Cambuur.
There’s no further details on how the negotiations have been going, with them only pointing out the Eredivisie side are one of the sides interested in signing Virgínia this summer.
Featuring for Sporting last season, the goalkeeper only managed to make eight appearances, most of them in early rounds of cup competitions.
He’s only played three times for Everton’s senior team.
