Everton star Lucas Digne has labelled Marco Silva the most fun manager he’s worked under, likening his training sessions to those at Barcelona.
Silva was in charge at Goodison Park between May 2018 and December 2019, managing 60 matches before his eventual sacking.
Digne featured in 55 of those games under the Portuguese coach, establishing himself as a key player for Everton after arriving to replace an ageing Leighton Baines.
Silva’s time on Merseyside was a largely forgettable one, with him failing to bring the attacking style of football and progress that the club had been hoping for.
Before his move, it had been established he was among the more meticulous coaches in the game, with players who had worked under him at his former clubs detailing how much attention he awarded to the finer points of the game and planning for fixtures.
Digne has now backed that up, but the Everton star says rather than being tedious, life under Silva was good for him.
“Portuguese Marco Silva at Everton, that was really cool,” he told L’Equipe.
“There was constant play, a lot of tactics with the ball for a good hour and a half. It was very pleasant.
“At Barça too, but the sessions were smaller because we played so many games. The sessions with Ancelotti can last a long time too.”
