Last week, Henry Onyekuru’s agent William D’Avila spoke to Turkish radio station Radyospor and reportedly confirmed interest from other clubs in the Everton owned player.
D’Avila was quoted as saying: “For Henry, we’ve received many offers from Spain. Valencia, Sevilla and Real Betis have submitted their offers. Espanyol are also interested in him. But Henry is very happy at Galatasaray, we are working hard to keep him at Galatasaray.
“Everton are also looking to allow him to stay at Galatasaray. They have four similar wingers and they are happy with his progress in Turkey. Let’s see what happens. This is a complicated process. But if you ask Henry he wants to stay at Galatasaray.”
There was nothing really outlandish, but it prompted Seville’s Estadio Deportivo to contact D’Avila themselves, and he now says he didn’t mention the clubs.
Despite that, on a move to Spain he’s quoted by Estadio as saying: “Henry is open to everything, he would like to take the step to one of the big leagues.”
In Turkey they believe Onyekuru wants to stay with Galatasaray, and it seems the Super Lig club have also been given that impression.
Pushing the idea of interest from other big sides has been around Onyekuru since the time he started doing well at Eupen, and it hasn’t stopped at any point.
These comments about the player wanting to take the next step in his career will obviously end up back in Turkey, and it’ll be interesting to see what is made of them.
