João Virgínia’s move from Everton to Sporting should be announced next week.
According to newspaper Record, the goalkeeper landed in Lisbon last night and is now sorting the final details for his one-year loan spell with the Lions.
The 21-year-old, who had been diagnosed with Covid-19, has now tested negative, making it possible to have his medicals in Portugal at the weekend. The move could be made official on Monday.
Virgínia is arriving at Sporting to replace Luis Maximiano, who’s left for Granada, and Sporting will have the chance to sign the Everton player on a permanent basis by triggering a clause of €3.5m.
Meanwhile, newspaper A Bola writes that Virgínia should already be at Estádio José De Alvalade to watch Sporting’s league clash against Belenenses tomorrow.
The goalkeeper is expected to join the Lions’ squad as soon as he’s approved via a medical, as he’s expected to compete with Antonio Adan for the number one position.
Everton and Sporting are expected to share Virgínia’s salary during the loan.
