With two wins in his first three games in charge of Everton, it’s far to say Frank Lampard is having a decent start at Goodison Park, and could save the Toffees from a really disappointing season.
Encouraged by the weekend’s 3-0 win over Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, his side now prepares for a tough trip to Southampton, where a positive result could finally put them further away from the relegation zone.
The arrival and start of Frank Lampard at Everton was approached in an interview given by Allan this week. Speaking to the Premier League’s official channels, the midfielder praised the new manager, claiming a little tactical change has been making a huge difference in the team.
“The professor has been here for (a little over) a week, but it feels longer. He has already shown us what his objective is: playing with three defenders in defence gives the team more options,” Allan told the Premier League (via Globo Esporte).
“He believes that it will be better for the whole team and I also believe that having three defenders helps us put more pressure on opponents when we advance. The fact that he has experience as a midfielder helps a lot too.”
Allan also talked about the opportunity of having such a great midfielder coaching him, explaining players in his position have been getting some special advice from the Chelsea legend.
“Of course! He gave us a lot of guidance and help. He was dominant in his position and has been very successful in this new coaching position. He gives us a lot of help and advice, which makes it easier for all of us.”
