Despite having a year left on his contract at Everton, Allan was touted to be a potential exit from Goodison Park this summer.
However, it appears, as per the player himself, that talk of a move away from Merseyside this summer is premature.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport about his past, present and future, the Brazilian was asked about the recent surgery he had following a season that culminated in Everton just about avoiding relegation; a position they definitely do not want to find themselves in next year.
He said: “They say that within six weeks I will be fine and can start running normally again. I had to operate, because the pains in my adductors had become unbearable. As soon as we were saved with Everton, I went to the operating room.”
Regarding the campaign that just finished, Allan described it as one ‘that started badly’ and ‘which risked ending worse’.
In the end, however, ‘it went well’, due to a ‘reaction of character, of personality’, before pointing out Everton ‘deserves more’, because they are an ‘extraordinary club where we lack nothing’.
As for a return to Italy, he said: “I respect what is written, but no sign has arrived to me. I think my professional destiny will remain unchanged. I will stay at Everton, as far as I know: I feel good in England, I have the respect of a club that I am proud of, with impressive facilities and to which I owe respect.”
Arriving at Goodison Park when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, the 31-year-old has made 57 appearances for the Toffees since his signing, assisting three goals in all competitions, but has yet to find the back of the net.
