Everton’s Tom Davies is ‘concretely thinking’ about turning down a renewal at the club to instead move to Italy with Monza.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Italian side have made a move for the 24-year-old by putting a three-year contract on the table in hope of signing him on a free transfer at the end of this month.
The newspaper reports that Monza CEO Adriano Galliani and technical director François Modesto are looking around at potential reinforcements for the squad this summer.
They have identified Everton’s Tom Davies as a potential option as he is set to become a free agent in a couple of days when his contract at Goodison Park comes to an end.
He’s been offered a renewal by the Toffees and has been mulling over whether to accept it or not, having increasingly fallen out of favour under a series of managers.
He managed just 20 appearances and 616 minutes this season under Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche and thus is considering whether to stay at his boyhood club or move elsewhere to get more regular playing time.
Monza have stepped in and offered him a three-year contract and Davies is ‘concretely thinking’ about accepting the offer and going on an ‘adventure’ in Serie A to provide his career with a much needed kickstart.
Everton, then, may need to improve their offer if they wish to keep the midfielder and stop him from a move to Lombardia this summer.
