The Colombian sport media won’t let go of their insistence around Yerry Mina’s ‘mysterious injury’.

In several countries, much more information is given about players when they pick up a knock. Medical reports are released and the exact nature of an issue is made clear.

Therefore, when Mina moved to Everton and had various injury issues, with return dates being put back on more than one occasion, there was some suspicion in the player’s own country that something wasn’t right, that the Toffees weren’t being straight.

He returned for Everton at the weekend against Newcastle United and had an absolute nightmare. Coming on with 15 minutes to go, Mina’s side were 2-1 up and then ended up losing the match 3-2.

For the Colombian media, the reaction of Everton fans is making the news, and Marca Claro say their World Cup hero is ‘at the centre of controversy’, before they again bring up the ‘mysterious injury’… ‘the condition of the right foot which was never clarified by the club’.

There’s now a worry that Marco Silva will bend to pressure and not pick Mina for a while, with it being stated all he can do is train.

Carlos Quieroz names his Colombia squad at around 11am today, Bogota time, and Mina is expected to be in it. It’ll be interesting to see how the Everton player is questioned when back in his country late this month, and how he answers.
