Leeds United and AS Roma have been credited with interest in Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré.
The 32-year-old’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of June and he’s set to leave the Toffees as a free agent.
Africa Foot have encouraged both the Whites and the Serie A side to consider signing the Everton player in the summer window.
The midfielder joined Everton in 2020, after spending four seasons at Watford. Doucouré’s experience of playing in England and that can benefit Leeds, if they were to secure his services.
That’s what the Mali international’s compatriot, Mahamadou N’Diaye, told Africa Foot.
Last week, Foot Mercato reported Al-Shabab are in talks and are tempting him with a $4m per year salary. N’Diaye states the Everton player has to pick between a sporting project and money when deciding his next destination.
N’Diaye, who is currently at French club Éclaron, believes Doucouré can extend his stay in England.
“I think Abdoulaye Doucouré is a top player, who can still continue his career in the Premier League with another club. Physically, he’s still performing very well and is one of the best in his position in Europe, a player who has a healthy lifestyle. He has the choice between being an athlete and a financial player,” he said.
Leeds United secured direct promotion to the Premier League, and the 34-year-old defender has given his taken on Doucouré moving to Elland Road.
“He’s a player who knows the Premier League well. He’s one of the most experienced players in the league. Therefore, he could be a great addition to Leeds United, who are also making its comeback to the elite of English football,” N’Diaye explained.
The final decision is down to the former Hornets man.
“Everything will depend on the club’s interest, but also on the player’s desire to stay in England. I think he’ll think carefully about making the best choice for his career,” he added.
