We all know that Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones loves a good controversy, especially given there’s no football being played lately.
This week, they’ve made a poll asking several journalists about the biggest flop in La Liga, with each one of them naming a specific player.
And for Cadena Cope’s Rafa Almanza, Everton defender Yerry Mina deserves to win that prize due to his time at Barcelona.
“Yerry Mina has been for me the greatest ‘bluff’ in our football. It didn’t work, neither in attack nor in defence,” said the journalist.
Mina left Brazilian side Palmeiras to join Barcelona in a €11.8m deal in January 2018. In six months playing for the Catalan side, he only made six appearances, in a total of 377 minutes, getting booked twice.
That was enough for Barça to rule him out, but that was also seen as a good opportunity for Everton, who signed him in a €30m deal the following summer.
The Colombian international now has 44 appearances for the Toffees, who seem to be pretty happy having him in their squad.
