Everton’s negotiations with Barcelona over a potential deal for Vitor Roque have ‘cooled down a lot’ after their initial bid for him was deemed too low.
That’s according to Sport, who report that Everton are unlikely to sign the Brazilian at this point unless they seriously up their bid for him.
The newspaper explains that Roque trained with the rest of the Barcelona squad yesterday waiting to resolve his future.
Barcelona have made it clear they want to sell the striker as long as they can recover the investment they made on him in January, but they are yet to receive any convincing offers.
Porto have withdrawn their interest while Everton have ‘put their foot down’, refusing to go beyond what they initially offered at the start of talks.
They asked about a deal for the Brazilian but ‘their offer was low’ and the negotiation has now cooled down a lot between the two clubs.
That tallies with what had been reported previously, when it was explained Everton had shown a willingness to pay €25m but Barcelona want €30m plus.
Now it seems they’re pulling away, with reports in Brazil even suggesting Real Sociedad could be interested. They present their squad tomorrow and have a press conference planned too, so that will be worth keeping an eye on as Everton seemingly refuse to up their initial offers.
