Everton and Fiorentina have ‘moved the first pawns’ to try and sign Goncalo Guedes from Valencia this summer.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say it is up to the Portuguese forward to decide his future.
Several reports in Spain have indicated that Valencia are keen to move Guedes on this summer, with them in the midst of a financial crisis and him very much a saleable asset.
Everton are said to be keen, particularly as he could be available for as little as €15m due to Valencia’s need for money.
Corriere dello Sport cover the player’s future today as Fiorentina are keen too, with him considered a ‘dream’ signing for them this summer.
He has the same agent as new boss Gennaro Gattuso and he, alongside those further up the club, like the idea of bringing him to Italy.
They believe he could be the natural heir to Franck Ribery and have ‘good arguments’ to tempt him into the move, given the link to Jorge Mendes via Gattuso.
The club have already convinced the agent of their project and that ambition should not be underestimated in their attempts to Guedes.
However, it is also felt a deal is ‘difficult’ as Fiorentina are out of European competition, and there is competition for his signature, particularly from Everton.
Like Fiorentina, the Toffees have ‘moved the first pawns’ for Guedes but need to ‘leverage on something else’ as they don’t have European football, like his other suitors, Sevilla and Villarreal.
It’s up to Guedes to decide his future with him likely to demand a double-figure fee given Valencia paid €40m for him in August 2018.
They are hoping an auction could break out, although their ‘need to make money’ is likely to decide at what figure they will sell at.
