As we’re all aware this summer, Everton are desperate to add a striker to their squad to help ease the burden on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Blues have already signed Youssef Chermiti, but he is considered an option for the future and a player to be developed rather than a ready-made replacement for Calvert-Lewin.
Everton are still scouring the market for that player and one name who has been linked is Paris Saint Germain’s Hugo Ekitike, but according to Le Parisien, there is nothing to those claims.
The newspaper reports that PSG are keen to move Ekitike on this summer, with the arrival of Goncalo Ramos and their pending move for Randal Kolo Muani only pushing him further out of their plans.
The latter would arrive from Frankfurt, who would be in need of a replacement and could move for Ekitike as the man to fill the void.
A deal is yet to take off but there could be a crossover in the move for Muani, and Ekitike would be happy to take it after accepting that PSG want him to move on.
Frankfurt are not his only option, though, as Lens have also taken information on the striker without ever going on the offensive for him.
Then there is Everton, where the striker has also been ‘mentioned’ as a possible target. However, they have not reached an agreement with either the player or PSG about a move.
The suggestion from the newspaper is there was never anything concrete around the rumours they were keen and there’s no indication that will be changing.
Ekitike, for his part, is still considering his best option for the future and has not ruled anything out. He wants a club where he can get more playing time and ‘express himself’.
A move to the Bundesliga with Frankfurt would make sense in that regard, particularly given how Muani has shined at the club over the last year.
A transfer away from PSG is ‘almost certainly’ going to happen at some point but it seems the likelihood of him turning up at Everton is low, unless there is a sudden push from those in charge at Goodison Park.
