With claims that Marco Silva had threatened to resign as Everton manager should Idrissa Gueye be sold to Paris Saint-Germain, the situation at Goodison Park appeared to be getting serious.
The Senegalese midfielder has already made it clear to his club that he would like to move to the Ligue 1 champions, and he’s trying to force a move.
As things stand, Everton and Silva have turned down all of Paris Saint-Germain’s approaches, but Gueye isn’t giving up.
According to Paris United in France, the former Aston Villa man has travelled to the French capital in hope his club get something sorted, meaning he’d already be on site to undergo a medical.
Having already signed Leandro Paredes from Zenit, Thomas Tuchel and his board are keen to sign a more defensive minded midfielder, after failing to successfully replace Thiago Motta since his retirement.
There’s still time to get a deal sorted, but unless Paris Saint-Germain find enough money down the back of their couch or Everton suddenly and surprisingly change their mind, Gueye isn’t going anywhere.
