One of the more surprising sagas of the summer, at least from an Everton point of view, will have been the quick exit made by Dele Alli.

The midfielder, who arrived from Tottenham for free but with bonuses that could take the deal to €40m if all went well, was swiftly sent to Besiktas in Turkey, who even have an option to buy the player if the loan goes to plan.

So far, Alli has started well, and even scored his first goal for the Süper Lig club on Sunday as they beat Ankaragücü 3-2 away from home.

However, any future performance will have to wait, as journalist Gökmen Özcan reveals the player is now expected to be ‘away from the field for about 10 days’ after feeling ‘a strain and swelling in his right hamstring’.

That will be a blow for the Turkish club, who have placed high hopes on the Everton man, as they next face Basaksehir on Saturday evening.

As for the Toffees, they will be keeping an eye on his progress over the next week or so, undoubtedly checking in on him, as their aim will be for him to be as fit and play as well as possible over the coming season.

After all, if Everton can either get his wages off their books permanently or recover a more motivated and improved player, it works out either way.
