One of the main issues that Juventus faced over the summer was what to do with Moise Kean, who is currently there on a two-year loan from Everton.
The forward struggled for much of the last campaign despite the hope a return would bring him back to his former self, and the Serie A side were trying to get rid of him, which is where Nottingham Forest came in at one point.
Juventus will have to pay Everton a minimum of €28m if/when the loan becomes permanent, with an extra €3m in bonuses that could then be triggered, and their goal was to get someone to pay all or most of that so that they could break off the arrangement with the Toffees.
The only club that came close, according to Calciomercato, was Nottingham Forest, who spent much of the summer throwing money around at any available player to overcrowd Steve Cooper’s squad.
Among those was Kean, who has since found a bit more form under Max Allegri, and ‘the next few months will be important’ for his career.
The Everton loanee’s aim is to ‘return to the national team and earn the trust of Juventus’, which he tried to do last summer when he ‘declined a rich offer from Nottingham Forest’.
The reason he did that was, ‘in his mind, there is the belief that he can be decisive in a top-tier club’, such as the Old Lady.
While it’s then made clear the clause to purchase Kean isn’t fully compulsory, the belief is that it will have to be paid as the objectives will be met.
After his rather poor spell with Everton, it’s clear Kean wasn’t overly interested in returning to England with Nottingham Forest, meaning it is now up to Juventus to decide what will happen with him going forward.
Calciomercato then add ‘a fundamental step will be the meeting, expected with the arrival of spring, between Juventus and Rafaela Pimenta, the player’s agent’.
Until then, he has a World Cup break to navigate and then the second half of the season to convince both his current side and his manager.
